The International Dance Festival Disability started in 2014. It is unique in Greece and the most important artistic event in the Thessaly region in the field of disability, significantly contributing to the recognition and integration of people with disabilities into the world of the arts.
The main goal of the International Dance Festival Disability (IDFD) is to raise awareness in the public about exclusion issues and to eliminate the stigma surrounding disability through active participation.
The festival is held every May and has become a reference point on the international dance and cultural map, marking a TURNING POINT in the field of disability.
To date, 225 dance groups from 9 countries have participated, showcasing over 300 choreographies with more than 2,250 dancers. Additionally, 11 Productions and 5 Co-Productions have been created, some of which have been performed in other cities.
The festival is complemented by specialized seminars and workshops for students and professional dancers, pupils, people with disabilities, and others. So far, seminars in classical, contemporary, modern, and creative dance have been held with renowned dancers, choreographers, and dance instructors, as well as specialized DanceDisability seminars and lectures, including programs for both regular and special education schools.
